Search Engine Optimisation is key for your business to improve its rankings within the search engines to gain you a higher return. When you use the aid of an Internet Marketing company to help your website greatly improve an online presence they not only write good quality content they also bring in line search engine guidelines. I will be discussing what W3C validating and CSS for SEO.

The buzz word is W3C - it actually means a worldwide web consortium where we can develop standards for websites - there are standards and protocols set out to ensure long term growth for the web.
The service validates multiple versions of XHTML and HTML, which advises on any errors your website may contain and warns you to help create a user friendly website. In addition to this the W3C also checks other tools to help check other types of documents such as CSS, RDF OR P3P - this will help find broken links in your web pages and other problems that may occur. Checking any W3C errors is quite easy for your website to do just simply enter the URL of your site and the validation tool will scan your website and inform you immediately of any synax, the corrections would then have to be applied - if you don’t understand how to do this by getting the help of an Internet marketing company - they can validate your website to create no errors on your website.

CSS for SEO - What is CSS?

CSS stands for cascading style sheet this tool is of utmost importance to your website if you want it to look professional, when you check W3C validation errors they like to see that you have used this, CSS helps to minimise html to provide the same display yet dissociate content to web design.

The added advantages of using CSS to your website is that you reduce the amount of code to increase the content, The CSS is cached straight away therefore meaning that it speeds up the load time for other pages that your website may contain.
When using CSS for your website you help to clean it up and define the code to content which gives your website a higher ranking as the search engines like this and will rank you highly for it.

My advice when using CSS to help create a user friendly website would be not to use CSS to hide content this is seen as spamming, the search engines don’t take this lightly and may even ban your website for using such practices. CSS and SEO go well together to gain you higher results in the search engines therefore increasing your online revenue as it’s much easier to understand to help optimise your website. If you would like more information on achieving great results for your website please don’t hesitate to give us a call at Accomplished SEO.

At Accomplished SEO we offer different Internet Marketing solutions available for your website to improve its online visibility, we can offer Pay Per Click or Search Engine Optimisation - both are ways for your website to massively improve your business revenue.

Within this blog I will be discussing Internet Marketing Pay Per Click frauds, what it involves and a few tips to avoid it.

There are many ways that Pay Per Click fraud can be committed, Pay Per Click is used for websites to pay for their website to be on the first page of the search engine results without having to use search engine optimisation. Basically every time a potential client views the site the website owner is charged regardless if the visitor purchases something or not.

However it has been discovered that dishonest competitor’s have been clicking on there rivals websites to cost them money by running up there Pay Per Click bill, Adversely having to pay for this although they don’t get sale. It is important for you to be aware when you’re thinking about getting the help from an Internet marketing company the pros and cons about using such methods. Pay Per click fraud is constantly happening - there have been ways to try and stop it, but this problem will still occur, you can monitor the results of your Pay Per Click on a daily basis this is actually a great way, although time consuming if something isn’t quite right. The best way though is to use software or other tools to detect Pay Per Click fraud.

From my perspective it’s probably best for your business to use Search Engine Optimisation - this way your online business can improve its website ranking and can grow within the search engine results organically. This is free - if you choose to do it yourself, however your website would benefit from using an Internet Marketing company to fully Optimise your website as not only will they write good quality content to improve your website’s rankings, an Internet Marketing company would provide their service’s to improve your website that may have problems with it such as W3C Validation errors or canonicalisation, by using the aid of a good SEO programmer they will ensure that your website becomes search engine friendly, which in today’s industry your website needs this to gain first page rankings.

If you have any queries, or would like help on ways to improve your online business, please don’t hesitate to contact Accomplished SEO for all of your marketing needs.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

With the New Year having been brought in and with countless units of alcohol being drunk and with millions of people waking up feeling a little worse for wear, Accomplished SEO feel that we should write a bit about the humble hangover. Including hangover cures throughout history, what a hangover is and what a hangover does to your body. We cannot actually give you a guarenteed cure for you hangover, we can however, make you feel better that you do not live in past times and have to experience some of the horrendous remedies that people had to endure!

The hangover, scientifically known as veisalgia, is how the body suffers after heavy consumption of alcohol. Symptoms include, headaches (due to the dehydration of the body causing the membrane between the skull and brain to tighten, your brain doesn’t shrink!!), general dehydration, nausea, lethargy, light and sound sensitivity, a fuzzy tongue (cardboard mouth!),and much worse symptoms! The of the best advice to avoid a hangover…. Keep drinking.

The hair of the dog

The phrase ‘the hair of the dog’ originates from medieval times. If you happened to be bitten by a feral dog, the local apothecarist/ medicine man/ GP would pluck a hair from the beast that bit you and put it into the wound to try and help it heal better. No medical evidence of this working but it sparked the whole idea of giving the body more of the chemical that caused the headache in the first place! They say the best hair of the dog is to what ever you were drinking the night before the morning after, however, if you simply cannot face it, a low congener is your best bet. Generally the clearer the drink, the lower the congener, such as vodka. The alcohol would raise the alcohol level in your blood, lessening the symptoms and making the hangover more bearable. Brandy or red wine are high congeners and should be avoided as hair of the dog.

Hang over cures- Past

The Ancient Romans- a greasy fry up (with deep fried canaries!)

The Ancient Greeks- slaughter a sheep and devour its entrails

16th Century drinkers- mashed eels

17th Century drinkers- allow leeches to suck the bad blood

Hang over cures- Present

Coca-Cola originally began as a morning after cure. John Pemberton, a pharmacist, invented a hangover reducing tonic, containing caffeine, alcohol and cocaine all dissolved in a caramel syrup in the 1890s. Flat Coca-Cola, an old wives tale, is said to be a brilliant way to overcome a hangover.

By staying awake, rather than rolling aver and trying to go back to sleep, you will be giving your body an increase in oxygen, which will help your brain and body to recover quicker. Exercise also gets the oxygen levels to boost in the bloodstream, however the motivation to go for a jog is a bit harder to get!

Herbal remedies are a relatively modern way of overcoming a bad hangover. Milk Thistle is thought to protect your liver from alcohol poisoning, for centuries, dandelions have been known to purify the blood and balance the blood sugar levels. Activated charcoal tablets are reported to absorb toxins, meaning if you take one mid evening, the toxins should be absorbed during the night.

Accomplished SEO does not, in anyway recommend the excessive consumption of alcohol, or abuse of alcohol. Please drink responsibly.

Within SEO (search Engine Optimisation) and Web Design images and graphics are used on a regular basis. Particularly for SEO purposes of a website images aren’t exactly used for achieving rankings; but they can be useful in their own way.

Useful Images and Animations

When visiting a website you will usually end staying around for a while and look through it if it has a nice design, provides the information you want and is usable. Usability is something that needs to be concentrated on through SEO and Web Design together.

A few pointers about images; firstly, they should always have an ALT tag. This ensures when an image can not be loaded or a user chooses not to see it then they have some form of description of what it is. From an SEO perspective then the ALT tag should include a keyword so that search engines can relate the image to the content; from a web design perspective this is just good practice.

High quality, exciting images and animations are also a great addition to any website. If you’re going to have any images on a website they must be of high quality. Users can tell the difference between a professional image and an image taken 20 seconds ago just to ‘fill the space’. Having an image can capture an audience unlike the use of plain text. Giving a user something to look at may make the difference in a user clicking away or staying.

Animated GIF files are a great way to make a static image a bit more exciting. This basically is a sequence of images that are saved together and played in order; thus creating a simple animation. A link can even be put an an image so a user knows where they are clicking through to.

Summary

Whilst not the most beneficial for SEO purposes, images are great for Web Design and keeping a user engaged. SEO is all about gaining traffic due to appearing in the SERP’s. If you can get an image ranked in the Google image search then that is even better.

You have had your festive turkey dinner with plenty of horse chestnut stuffing and drank lots of wine, I’m guessing if you are anything like me you will be feeling relatively stuffed by now. You may just have the energy to explore your new Christmas presents, or perhaps sit back and watch a festive film on the television. After all, you do work hard throughout the year! Everyone deserves to to sit back and relax over Christmas. Although I don’t know about you but I still somehow manage to feel guilty if I do nothing over Christmas. But at this very moment in time I am feeling stuffed from all the Christmas joy! I am going to sit back and relax.

Stuffing and SEO…. I know what you are thinking, how can I relate the two? Well, keyword stuffing is a popular search engine optimisation technique. Although too much stuffing can be seen as unethical black hat SEO, leaving your website with serious indigestion. Search engines are wise to unethical keyword stuffing, they will not think twice about penalising your site or banning it all together. If you plan to practice black hat keyword stuffing techniques within your Website, then best get your Rennie’s at the ready, you will be in for a bumpy ride.

On a serious note the three main techniques of SEO are keywords, content and link building. Your specific keywords are strategically chosen. Your keywords relate to the industry that your business operates and what you wish to be ranked under within the search engines. Keywords are king in SEO! Once your specific keywords have been decided upon, your website can be optimised towards these keywords. This is where the fine line between good keyword densities and keyword spamming comes in. Every search engine optimisation agency have their own keyword density ratio that they work towards. Keyword density is a measure of the number of times a keyword appears within the content of the website. If the keyword density is too high then the content will appear “Spammy.”

Search engines do not like “Spammy” websites, they weaken the strength of the search. For instance if someone is searching on Google for information about dogs, they may type in keywords such as: Dogs, Dog information, Dog breeds. A site that is spammed with these keywords yet provides little relevant information may be ranked higher than a website that actually provides valid information about dogs. This is because the search engine bots pick up on the number of keywords and assume that the site is highly relevant. This would have been true in the past, search engines have wised up to this black hat technique and will ban the site for this practice.

Search engines aim is to provide the best choice of relevant results, black hat techniques are not advisable. Accomplished SEO UK only practice ethical white hat SEO techniques. We achieve high rankings for our clients working with the search engines to achieve these results.

With today’s economic climate and the credit crunch hanging over our heads - many people are looking into ways to reduce there outgoings and save money where they can.

Is your pay per click bill running away with itself? Is it eating away at your budget, hopefully if you read this blog it will shed some light on ways for you to reduce your outgoings yet still deliver the desired results.

Pay per click is a way in which your website can be featured on the first page listing yet you pay for the privilege, you don’t need to optimise your website to get the search engines to rank you highly for it as by applying pay per click you pay every time some one clicks on the link to your website. You bid on specific keywords in which you wish to be listed under and if you bid high enough your website will be displayed highly within the search engines.

This can be a lucrative way to get a high return in a very short space of time, however you are paying every time a visitor views your site. To help reduce your pay per click outgoings I will give you a few pointers that may be of help.

Monitor your pay per click campaign - by ensuring that your keywords are useful to your products or services is essential, you could save money by not bidding on un-necessary keywords.

Its possible to make your pay per click campaign run with your opening hours, so for instance if you worked Monday to Friday 9-5 you could make your ad run along with this. This would save you a lot of money as you are cutting visitors viewing of your website in half - The problem you may find is that you would get less visitors. My suggestion would be to research and find out when the most busiest times are and have your ad run along with this.

Target your market more specifically to use less keywords but enhance your business by using keywords related to your website.

Opt out of Google content market so although unfortunately your website will not be seen by third parties, it will only be displayed within Google, although you may think you might lose a lot of directed traffic this may not be the case, most Internet users use Google as there main search engine so you will still receive a high influx of visitors yet decrease your pay per click expenditure.

From my perspective when you are reviewing your pay per click campaign ensure that you have researched your target keywords well and used the correct keywords relating to your product. If you would like us to look at ways in which we could help your website then please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Boxing Day can leave you feeling slightly deflated after the festive joys of Christmas Day, don’t worry Accomplished SEO UK are here to help you pass away some time. Sit down, grab a coffee - or perhaps some left over wine from yesterday (If you can handle any more) and have a read of The Accomplished SEO Boxing Day blog.

Accomplished SEO UK specialises in optimising a clients website to be search engine friendly, we do this using various on page and off page optimisation techniques. For instance keyword density checks, content writing, link building and much more. SEO is our specialised area, we have a team of experts who are experienced within SEO throughout a wide range of industries. SEO is one of the most popular Internet Marketing methods available. SEO optimises a site over time, increasing its page rank and credibility within the World Wide Web.

SEO can drastically improve your business, a well optimised site will increase your online exposure and drive your online sales forward. Search engine optimisation is a highly targeted form of Internet Marketing; the beauty is that SEO brings the people who are searching for your website, to your website.

Below I have gone into further detail about various SEO techniques that Accomplished SEO uses to fully optimise our clients websites:

W3C Validation: - We put all our clients websites through an extensive validation test. The W3C validation checks will highlight any errors found within the open source code of the website. These errors will slow down the search engines when indexing the website.

Duplicate Content:- Search engines do not like duplicate content within a website, they see this as unethical as it may manipulate the quality of their results. As part of our search engine optimisation techniques we analyse a website for any duplicate content.

Links:- Another SEO technique is link building, as part of our search engine optimisation process we build links both externally to our clients website and internal, within a clients website. Link building is essential within SEO as it increases the flow of traffic and PageRank of a site.

To conclude search engine optimisation is a highly effective and targeted form of Internet Marketing. SEO is also the most cost effective compared to other Internet Marketing methods.

Q. Who is Father Christmas’ Wife?

A. Mary Christmas

A poor joke it may be, but this Christmas day blog is all about Santa, the kind man who brought you all of your lovely presents (and that horribly garish jumper!!).

Father Christmas is a figure who is recognised the world over, although he is not always known as the same name. A far as modern day spies and secret agents go, in terms of multiple identities, they could have a lot to learn from good old Saint Nick! But anyway, this blog is about coming together on the same day, despite different Languages, cultures and beliefs and celebrating with loved ones.

Many people believe Santa Claus is from the North Pole or Lapland, however he was originally from Turkey and was called Saint Nicholas. Today, many people go on a pilgrimage to Demre (formerly Myra) in Turkey to seek out the roots of Saint Nicholas. Many people automatically think of Father Christmas in red, however, Father Christmas originally wore green!

The bearded man in red, AKA……

Here are just a few different names from around the world, for Santa Claus:

China- Shengdan Laoren

Finland- Joulupukki

France- Pere Noel

Germany- Christindl

Greece- Hagios Nikolaos

Italy- Babbo Natale

Japan- Santa Claus or Santa no ojisan

Netherlands- Sinter Klaas

Norway- Julenissen

Russia- Ded Moroz (accompanied with Snegurochka)

Spain- Papa Noel and Los Reyes Magos: Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar (The Three Kings)

Sweden- Jultomen

USA, Canada- Santa Claus

UK- Santa Claus, Father Christmas, Chris Cringle, St. Nicholas

So there you have it, a man of many names, looks and talents. After reading this, you may perhaps appreciate Santa Claus a little bit more, after all of his hard work!

Accomplished SEO wish you all a very Merry Christmas and wish you all the very best for the rest of the day and the rest of the holidays.

HO HO HO MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
